In this letter to European Commissioner Didier Reynders and Mr Bruno Gencarelli, Head of Unit at DG Justice responsible for international data flows and protection, ACCIS and five other leading European trade associations highlight that businesses from the financial services sector heavily relies on standard contractual clauses (SCCs) for data transfers that are essential for their activities. In the light of this and the recent Court of Justice ruling on the EU-U.S. Data Protection Shield, ACCIS and fellow signatories of the letter urge the Commission to extend the deadline for responses to its ongoing consultation on SCCs until after the holiday period in order to allow for meaningful feedback.
